Social Brand Forum 2014: Take Care of Your Community

September 28, 2014 By Kimberly Alt

This was our second year attending the Social Brand Forum and Kimberly Alt represented the Cover Story Media®, Inc. team this year. Here is a summary of her experience and key takeaways from this great conference among the cornfields of Iowa in September 2014.

“I learned new things to help myself and Cover Story Media in our business endeavors. One of my favorite speakers this year was Amy Landino. I’d like to share my favorite point that she made in her talk from Social Brand Forum 2014.”

Be Active and Present in Your Comments

Show your community that you are listening just like you are in person. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve reached out to someone or commented on someone’s site and been eager for a response and gotten nothing in return. Show that you are listening and that you care. Think of it this way, if someone walked up to you on the street and said, “Wow I love your outfit! That scarf is fabulous, where did you get it?” Would you just ignore them? Maybe you would, but the polite thing to do would be to respond with, “Thank you, I purchased it at XYZ.” Not only does it take like 5 seconds, but it also builds a stronger relationship with your community. Others will see that you take the time to comment and respond to each interaction and this will make them more apt to participate!
